Have you ever wanted to try out hiking but didn’t know where to start?
Do you want to turn off the TV and get your kids moving?!
I’m here to offer you some help!
Below you can sign up for my amazing new offering – A FREE 5-Day Get Started Family Hiking Course that is delivered straight to your inbox!
Each day of the course provides information on a different topic!
Day 1: How To Choose A Trail To Hike
Choosing the right place to have your adventure can make or break the whole experience! During day one we will talk about things to consider when choosing where to hike, how far to go, and the type of trail that might best suit you. We will also talk about setting big goals for reaching some of the hiking “meccas” of the world.
Day 2: What To Wear And What To Take With You On Your Very First Hikes
This course focuses on day hiking, but even when you aren’t stopping over night along the trail there are definitely some items you want to have with you at all times. We will cover how to carry things, where to get your hiking gear, what things are optional, and what exactly I carry in my pack on every trail no matter how long or short!
Day 3: How to Stay Safe On Your Hikes
There are some things it is important to know about staying safe on the trails! What should you do if your group gets separated or you find yourself lost? What about if you come across an animal on the trail? What are signs that you should turn back for the car even if your hike just started? Hiking is a great way to test yourself physically and mentally but personal safety always needs to be remembered.
Day 4: Basic First Aid For The Trail
I am a certified life-guard which means I’m also trained in First-Aid and CPR – something I suggest to every parent but you don’t have to be an expertly trained adult to care for many medical needs that you may come across on the trail. This day we will talk about general first-aid knowledge and when it’s time to summon a professional.
Day 5: How To Keep Everyone Entertained And Having Fun on the trail!
By this point you should be just about ready to hike the nearest trail! Yet, you may be wondering what you will do if your kids dare mutter the dreaded words “I’m Bored”. I will give you some great tips and pointers on Day 5 to make sure everyone stays content and engaged on your hiking adventure.
