Well, it’s hard to believe but Explore Life Moore has been up and running for a full month. I have a surprising number of feelings about finishing my first month blogging! For those who might be interested in numbers, here are a few more stats of my very first month on this journey according to Google!
I had 2.6 thousand users visit my site and 4.7 thousand page views -WOW- with Pinterest and Facebook being my leading suppliers of visitors – no surprise on that part!
I have learned so much this first month blogging and am extremely thankful for 5 big things that have helped this blog start off on a successful note. These 5 things were helpful for me and I know they will be for you too!
This post contains affiliate links which means when you click and make a purchase a percentage of that purchase comes back to ExploreLifeMoore. I only recommend products I truly use, love, and whose mission I can stand behind. You can read my full disclosure here.
1. Taking A Blogging Course!
Part of me knew that I could learn all I needed to know about blogging if I was willing to read enough articles, trial and error enough pieces, and really dedicate the hours to scouring the net and living on the fringes of having a blog. However, that’s not what I wanted to do! I wanted to blog and I wanted to get setup without tears and hassle so that I could start writing. I also wanted to feel like I was being successful in my endeavor. That’s where Abby Lawson’s Building A Framework blogging course comes in!
Abby breaks things down in an amazingly simple way. She is the reason my first month blogging has been a success. Her course is self paced and I have access to it forever now that I purchased it. This means I have been able to go back and review parts as my blog develops and see what additional things I could change or implement to make the blog better! Her Facebook group for people in the course has been great for getting one on one interaction with Abby and others who have learned from her – an amazing resource I’ve used TONS this past month.
If you are thinking about starting a blog Abby does offer a free course all about launching a blog that thrives. If you love the free course (Trust me you will) then you can purchase an even more in depth course that has been worth EVERY penny to me this month!
Check out her free course here – You’ll be SO glad you did:
2. Choosing SiteGround To Host My Site
This was one of those things that I knew nothing about and could have easily prevented me from ever completing my first month blogging. WordPress.org has been amazing for content creation and posting but I needed somewhere to host my site. Abby broke all this down in her course and gave me a few places to check out when looking for my own spot to host my blog.
Research paid off – and trust me I’ve done a lot of it – and SiteGround has been an amazing choice. The biggest thing for me has been their customer service! Both in one-on-one chats and when I submitted a ticket for answers to technical questions they were prompt and clear with their help. This was so important to me as someone who wanted to get their blog up and running quickly and efficiently.
I knew I would have to invest in hosting and I’m glad I made a choice I love. If you are looking to start a blog and need hosting – find out more by clicking the banner below. As a beginner I can promise it will be a click worth making!
3. Finding a Design For My Blog That Was Beginner Friendly
I came here to write. I came here to share my passion for the outdoors. I did not come to show off my fantastic (read: non-existent) design skills. Praise the heavens for Pretty Darn Cute Designs! They make the cutest and easy to customize designs for websites and blogs!
I was nervous about how to make a page look nice. I’m not the fancy frills type. I was worried I would click one thing and delete all my work or destroy the entire internet. Pretty Darn Cute Designs already thought that through which is why each design has its own set of tutorials to help with every bit of customization you could want and they have a Facebook group for you to ask questions and get quick answers. Easy as pie!
Even as my site grows and I try out new looks – I think my relationship with Pretty Darn Cute Designs will only grow.
If you want a new design for your blog you should definitely check them out!
4. The People Who Have Clicked, Read, Commented, and Shared My Work!
Without each person who visits my site – I wouldn’t have a reason to write! I hope that my writing has pushed you to try something new, explore a new place, made you smile, or at least nod your head from time to time. I hope you will continue to return again and again and to share this blog with others.
You have made me feel blessed beyond belief this last month!
5. My Kids Who Explore The World With Me
I would never have had the nerve or the content to put on a blog without my girls! They go wherever I take them without a complaint. They let me snap a million pictures. They give their input on what I’m doing and what we should do. They make the exploring and the writing happen. I am more thankful for them today than I was a month ago and that is a fact!
